    dSLR Housing

    Specifications
    • The clear molded dSLR is a compact housing system at a very realistic price. It features full capabilities, operates safely to 200 feet, and leaves little to be desired in a housing.
    • The Auto Exposure Lock and Focus Lock are placed where they can be activated with your thumb while taking a picture. Special "stay depressed when desired" control allows dial to provide constant manual aperture rather than shutter speed when desired.
    • All ports from our SLR systems can be utilized, allowing use of most macro, wide angle, and zoom lenses. This system allows you to see that the port is sealed.
    • The housing "O" ring seal is a masterpiece in fail-safe simplicity compared to designs that require stuffing the "O" ring into a groove. You can see that the "O" ring is sealed.
    • The heavy duty thick wall housing is molded of corrosion free clear polycarbonate. The Release Handle system allows easy attachment and removal of SubStrobe mounting arms at the touch of a button. Two screws remove the handle and tray assembly for traveling.
    • The housing size and weight provides neutral buoyancy and superb handling underwater. Camera installation is quick and simple. The dependable controls are conveniently placed at your fingertips, and kept water tight with Ikelite pioneered Quad-Ring seal glands proven to be the most reliable method for sealing controls.
    • The Ikelite Super-Eye magnifier provided with the housing offers enhanced viewing while wearing a diving mask.
    • New #6871.35 housing includes conversion circuitry that provides eTTL2 compatibility for DS-50 and DS-125 SubStrobes. The circuitry includes two f/stop over and under exposure compensation in half-stop increments, and eight manual power settings in half-stop increments by simply pushing a button.
    • The Manual Controller can be used, mounting on top of the handles. It provides the choice of 10 power settings with DS-50 or DS-125 digital SubStrobes, but no access to eTTL2 circuitry. Other strobe models can be used, but not with the Manual Controller, and other strobes can only provide manual opration. Mount and sync cords for Nikonos and sync cords for Inon or Sea & Sea strobes are available.

    ETTL2

Conversion circuitry in the housing allows the latest Ikelite SubStrobe DS-50, DS-125, and DS-80 and DS-200 models toi be introduced first quarter of 2006 to provide real eTTL and eTTL2 flash control as dictated by the camera. The circuitry is powered by the SubStrobe which is attached with a single #4103.51 or #4103.52 dual sync cord. These cords are identifiable by their blue band.

The circuitry powers up automatically when the strobe is turned on, lighting the yellow LED under "TTL" on the label indicating the system is ready to use.
    eTTL Controls

The arrow buttons under "Mode" on the label provide up to two f/stops over or under flash exposure compensation in half/stop increments. Minus one f/stop is shown in this photograph.
    eTTL Controls

Push both buttons simultaneously for one second to change from eTTL to Manual strobe control. The yellow LED under "M" on the label illuminates, and the red LED shows "F" indicating full power. The arrow buttons access the eight manual power settings in half/stop increments.
    eTTL Controls

NOTE: Current DS-50 and DS-125 SubStrobe circuitry has been updated to provide optimum performance with all current systems. DS-50 and DS-125 SubStrobes produced before September, 2004 send audible ready and confidence signals to the camera for four seconds after taking a photo as per old Nikonos protocol. This interferes with required communication for new eTTL digital cameras. Removal of this signaling allows these strobes to operate correctly with current digital protocal. See serial numbers below.*

DS-50 SubStrobes with Serial Number below 63,850 can NOT be updated to operate correctly with the latest eTTL conversion circuitry. DS-50 SubStrobes with Serial Number between 63,850 and 69,999 require a $75 update to operate with the latest eTTL conversion circuitry. *

DS-125 SubStrobes with Serial Number below 2,500 require a $150 update to operate with the latest eTTL conversion circuitry. DS-125 SubStrobes with Serial Number between 2,500 and 4.999 require a $75 update to operate with the latest eTTL conversion circuitry. *
